Establishment of AYUSH Information Cell, Melbourne

The Ministry of AYUSH (AYURVEDA, YOGA, UNANI, SIDDHA & HOMEOPATHY), Government of India has established 29 “AYUSH Information Cells” worldwide. The Ministry of AYUSH is collaborating with different countries all over the world to globally promote awareness, education, and advance research in the AYUSH modalities of the health system.

On 13th February 2019, 30th AYUSH information Cell was established by the Ministry of AYUSH, Govt Of India at 125 Stud Road, Dandenong, Melbourne Victoria, Australia by Honorable Dr. A.M Gondane, High Commissioner of India. Mr. Rakesh Malhotra, Consul General of India in Melbourne also participated in the function.

The Melbourne AYUSH Information Cell is promoting Indian traditional Medicine in Australia. The Ayurvedic medicinal system has its roots in India for over 5000 years and is slowly being adopted by many countries around the world. The main objective of this AYUSH Cell is to increase the awareness about Ayurvedic medicine, Yoga, Homeopathy and other AYUSH system in the community on a large scale in Australia.

AYUSH Information Cell will work in the following areas:

  1. Organising Lectures, Seminars related to Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH).
  2. Facilitating associations of AYUSH Stakeholders for networking, conducting meetings develop awareness among the public.
  3. Maintaining a register of AYUSH practitioners.
  4. Generating data about local regulations related to trade and practice of traditional medicine.
  5. Celebrating Ayurveda and international Yoga day.
  6. To support the international exchange of experts working in AYUSH systems.
  7. To support the establishment of AYUSH Academic Chairs in Australia

Dr. Santosh Yadav, Ayurvedic Practitioner in Melbourne, Australia and President of Australian Association of Ayurveda, is instrumental in the establishment of the AYUSH Information Cell in Melbourne. He had earlier organized the First AYUSH International Conference with the help of High Commission of India in October 2018.
